The Paracord Collection was born from an observation: many of Xauen Original's customers who wear Gaucho or Zhanshi bracelets are also active and athletic individuals—surfers, climbers, cyclists, travelers—who needed an accessory that could withstand their activities without sacrificing artisanal quality. Paracord, with its exceptional strength and availability in countless colors, was the natural answer.

Is the paracord in Xauen Original bracelets the same as military paracord?

Yes. We use genuine 550 paracord, the same type originally specified for military use. It has a tensile strength of 550 pounds (approximately 250 kg) and is composed of 7 inner nylon strands within a braided outer sheath, making it exceptionally strong and versatile.

Are the paracord bracelets water-resistant?

Paracord is virtually waterproof and does not deteriorate with water. The vegetable-tanned leather portion tolerates moisture but should not be submerged for extended periods. For strenuous water activities (surfing, swimming), we recommend the version of the paracord bracelet with a lower proportion of leather or removing the bracelet before entering the water.

Can the paracord strands be used in an emergency?

Theoretically, yes: genuine 550 paracord can be extracted from the outer sheath, and its 7 inner strands can be used as fishing line, emergency sutures, trap cord, or to secure items in survival situations. In practice, disassembling the bracelet for this purpose would destroy it. We mention it as a technical curiosity, not as a recommended use.
